The core mission of Geospatial @ UCLA is to provide a suite of geospatial services, instructional support and online tools that complement and facilitate research, teaching and community outreach at UCLA and beyond.

It is estimated that over 80% of all data and information contain a locational or geographical element that can be mapped. Learning how to extract, map and generate insights from such data and information is central to business, industry, healthcare, government, environmental policy and science, urban planning and a number of other areas. Built upon established and innovative geospatial information systems and technology courses, expertise and infrastructure housed within UCLA’s Department of Geography, Geospatial @ UCLA was created to meet the growing demand for geospatial information systems (GIS) across campus and beyond.
